FRIEDA KELBERT

Frieda N. Kelbert, age 80 of Menasha, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Thursday, October 31, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Frieda was born March 2, 1933 in Dubeczno, Poland, daughter of the late Karl and Anna Neumann. Frieda immigrated to the U.S. from Germany in October of 1958 at the age of 25. She lived and worked in Chicago until 1961. She started working at Jersild Knitting Company in Appleton that same year; Frieda retired from Jersild in 1996. On October 2, 1961 Frieda married Erwin Kelbert, who was also an immigrant from Germany. They were married at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Appleton, and have been members there ever since. Frieda and Erwin enjoyed dancing and celebrating their German heritage. They especially loved to go to Milwaukee for Fasching (Mardi Gras). Frieda and Erwin also loved to travel, and did so extensively after retirement. Their travels took them to many destinations in the U.S. as well as to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. Frieda is survived by a sister, Adele Kossatz, in Germany; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Erwin on October 11, 2013 and a sister, Erna Koehler, in Germany. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home, with The Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for St. Pauls church. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah. Friedas family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staffs of Heartland Hospice and of Prairie Home for their compassionate care during Friedas final months.
