Obituary

KENDALL J. MILLS, age 88, Neenah, passed away on Wednesday, March 2 surrounded by all of his children. He was born September 2, 1922 to the late Benjamin and Hulda (Litzkow) Mills. Kendall married Bernice Bethke on May 1, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2010. Kendall proudly served his country in the United States Navy in WWII, and was located in the Pacific. He retired after 38 years in the vending business. His first vending position was with Nelson Vending, which originated by the owner, Ken, and another employee. Eventually, Nelson Vending was bought out by ARA Vending Service. He enjoyed socializing with friends, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and always enjoyed being in the woods. Kendall took great pride in his 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He loved to share stories, particularly of his childhood growing-up in Leeman, WI and WWII adventures. Despite colon cancer diagnosis February 2010, he participated in the Old Glory Honor flight in April, a trip to the capitol with his children visiting in the office of Governor Doyle, being recognized as a WWII veteran during a State Assembly Member session, and having a private tour of Lambeau Field with his family. Kendall was a loyal Packer fan, and enjoyed watching the Packers win Super Bowl XLV. He took great pride in carrying on the family tradition of Mills Dills pickles. The pickles were well-known in the Valley. Another favorite hobby was winemaking that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Kendall is survived by his seven children: Peggy (Billy) Brown, Mary (Jack) Taves, Debby (Bob) Schultz, Dawn (Leroy) Schneidewend, Bill (fiance Lori Herberg), Gregg (fiance Debbie Paul), and Kim (Keith) Reetz, 15 grandchildren: Jason Oliver, Stephanie Webb, Jon Taves, Sarah Gage, Andy Schultz, Tedd and Hannah Schneidewend, Kaitlan Shea, Abbey and Alex Mills, Jillian Khadra, Benn Mills, Amber Roberts, Jim and Logan Reetz, a very dear Niece Karin Krablean (Mike). He is further survived by a sister Anita Faust and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Mills (Pearl), sister Norma Grab, brother-in-law Tony Faust, and grandson Justin Oliver. The Funeral Service for Kendall will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be held at Appletons Highland Memorial Park where Full Military Honors will be performed. Kendalls family wishes to thank ThedaCare At Home staff for their loving care and compassion. Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society in Kendalls name.
