ROBERT MCQUIGGIN

Robert D. McQuiggin, of Appleton, age 68, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Cherry Meadows Hospice following a battle with cancer. He was born March 20, 1943 in Ironwood, MI, son of the late John S. and Margaret (Perrero) McQuiggin. Robert graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Ironwood in 1961. He married Maureen Vardon on June 26, 1965. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1990. Robert was employed with Kimberly Clark as a mechanical engineer for over 20 years until his retirement in 2005. Robert enjoyed woodworking, and staying active, and watching sports, especially the Packers. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Appleton. Survivors include three children: Michelle (Wayne) Ebert, Greenville, David McQuiggin, Appleton, Mary McQuiggin, Milwaukee; two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Olivia Ebert; a brother, Bernard Bunsie McQuiggin, Ironwood, MI; two sisters: Dolores Harris, Scottsdale, AZ, Marguerite Nelson, Superior, WI; a special friend, Sharon; his former wife, Carole Schmidt and her children: Danielle Schmidt-Peterson, Tenielle Johnson and Scott Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by a brother, John Jack McQuiggin, and a sister, Joan Braghini. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Raphael Chiaka officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Margarets Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established from Cherry Meadows Hospice.
