DOROTHY FRIESEN

Dorothy E. Friesen, age 97 of Wild Rose Manor, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 29, 2011. A Neenah-Menasha resident since 1943, she was born in Bridgeport, IL on December 19, 1913 to Bessie (Clark) and Harvey Biehl. She married John J Friesen on April 12, 1931 in Mankato, MN. She was an active member of the Whiting Community Baptist Church in Neenah. She had been involved in teaching Sunday School, served on the Memorial Committee, organized the churchs annual spaghetti suppers, was a deaconess, member of the American Baptist Women group, Tree Farm Club, Golden Rule Circle, and served on the Sunshine Committee. She volunteered at Theda Clark Hospital as a pink lady and had been a member of UCT. Dorothy worked for National Food, then Menasha Superette, followed by Doering Super Valu in Menasha and then Neenah. Dorothy is survived by son, Gerald (Gladys) Friesen, Appleton; their children: Jeffrey (Christine) Friesen, Appleton and Wendy (Mark) Holten, Fremont; daughter, Beverly Bliss, Sun Prairie; and her daughter Peggy Crates; daughter, Donna (Dave) Mentink, Wautoma; and their daughters Tami (John) Schmidt, Waunakee; Kim (Henry) Rose, Appleton; Shari (John) Fischer, Darboy; and Kris Fischer, New London; great-grandchildren: Joshua and Ashley Friesen; Emily, Matthew, Adam, and Taylor Holten; Jennifer and Lucas Bliss; Ashley (Jeff) LaChance; Donovan House; Aaron and Zachary Schmidt; Joshua, Heather, and Jeremy Rose; Nickolas and Jessica Fischer; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sister-in-law Lura Biehl as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; her sister, Hazel (Johnny) Harrison; brothers: Don and Raymond Biehl; brother-in-law Jacob (Hilda) Friesen; sisters-in-law: Lena Skeleton; Anna (Earl) Weber; and granddaughter, Dawn Bliss Luscher, 1994. A funeral service for Dorothy will be held Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 5:00 P.M. at Whiting Community Baptist Church, Neenah, Rev. James J. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Whiting Community Baptist Church would be appreciated.
