MARTIN WASKIEWICZ

Martin J. Marty Waskiewicz, of Neenah, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born October 1, 1942 in Menasha, son of the late Edward and Cornelia (Westerman) Waskiewicz. Marty married Joan Johnson on November 14, 1964 and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2011. He retired from American Can/Fort James as Plant Controller after 36 years of employment. Marty enjoyed coaching Little League for many years and was involved with Junior Achievement. He enjoyed the trips he took with his wife to Laughlin, NV. Marty was an avid Wisconsin Sports fan and he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Marty was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Neenah where he was Chairman for many years of their annual Roundup fundraiser. Survivors include his two children: Tim (Sue) Waskiewicz, Neenah, Tracy (Tom) Groth, Neenah; two grandchildren: Tristan and Tevin Groth; two step-grandchildren: Mallory Mauthe, Stephanie Mauthe and special friend Steve Whitson; a step-great-granddaughter, Suri Whitson; his brother, Tom (Peg) Waskiewicz, Menasha; and a brother-in-law, Tom (Sherry) Johnson, Neenah. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Margarets Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name. The family would like to thank special friends, Kathy and Jerry Groth, for all their support and friendship.
