LUCILLE ZANDER

Lucille Jean Zander, age 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born on September 4, 1941 in Merrill, WI; daughter of the late Otto and Mabel (Knabe) Johnson. On August 29, 1964, in Merrill, she was united in marriage to Bruce Zander also of Merrill. Lucille was born and raised in Merrill and worked there at the Lincoln County Abstract Co. Through her job she became aware of two islands available in Merrill. She helped Bruce purchase them and they spent much of their time enjoying them. In 1966, she moved to the Fox Valley and worked as secretary/receptionist at Stowe Woodward and then as a sales rep. for Old Fashioned Cheese, both of Neenah, until her retirement. Lucille loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends on their islands in Merrill. She enjoyed playing cribbage and 13 with her family and friends. She enjoyed her retirement taking care of her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Bruce Zander, of Neenah; children, Cherie (Doug) Shusta, Ritchie (Trisha) Zander and Scottie Zander, all of Neenah; grandchildren, Gary, Casey and Andy Shusta and Jacob and Joshua Zander, all of Neenah; sisters and brothers, Darlene (Marv) Hinz, Deforest, Bonnie (Jim) Gass, Neenah, Robert (Trina) Johnson, Merrill, Marion (Randy) Gatterman, Merrill and Peter (Nancy) Johnson, Sheboygan; brother in law, Mike Dietzler, Merrill; sister in law, Judy Johnson, Eau Claire and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Karen Dietzler and a brother, George Johnson. A memorial service for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Westgor Funeral Home, Neenah with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in her name. Lucilles family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Timothy Goggins and the staff of the Hematology/Oncology Dept. of St. Elizabeth Hospital for their care and compassion of our Cookie Monster through her brave battle with cancer.
