CALVIN WOODS

Calvin (Cal) D. Woods, of Neenah, age 57, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. He was born April 17, 1954 in Morrison, IL. Cals family soon moved to Blue River, WI, and he grew up on the family farm. Cal could often be found playing with the beagles they raised instead of doing his chores. The dog house even had a removable roof, so they could get Cal out when he fell asleep with the puppies " which was often! He never lost that love of animals and had a variety of pets throughout his life. Cal attended Riverdale High School (1969-1972) in Muscoda, WI where he was active in the FFA, played on the varsity football team and was an honor student. He went on to college at the University of WI " Madison (1972-1974), but had to return home after only two years to help take care of the family farm. He obtained a degree from the Southeast Regional Technical College (1976) and then moved to Appleton, WI, where he lived for many years. Cal married Kathleen (Kathy) Morey on September 17, 1994, in Menomonie, WI. They recently spent 4 years in Bradenton, FL where Cal loved taking long walks on the beach and ocean fishing off the city pier. Cal also enjoyed golfing, reading, racing and spending time at the cabin up north " especially when he could be out in a boat. Cal is predeceased by his father, Charles Dale Woods, step-father Lyman Godfrey and mother Elaine (Pursell) Godfrey. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Rachel (David) Liechty, Minneapolis, daughter of Jenifer Woods-Ubowski; a granddaughter, Hazel Liechty; two sisters: Sue (Dennis) Connely, Boscobel, WI, Sheila (Russ) Kitsembel, Richland Center, WI; and a brother, James Godfrey, Blue River, WI. A memorial service will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
