CAROL PAYNTER

Carol F. Paynter, of Menasha, age 76, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. She passed away following a 26 year battle with Transverse Myelitis. Carol was born on March 25, 1935 in Chicago, daughter of the late Bruce and Katharine (Ort) Andrews. She graduated from Appleton (West) High School in 1953 and was married to David D. Carew. Together they had three sons before David died in an industrial accident in October of 1958. Nine months later, Robert Paynter moved to Neenah and met Carol at a church function. They were married on September 5, 1959. Together they had two more sons. Carol was a long-time active member of St. Thomas Church in Menasha where she taught nursery school, served on the vestry, promoted adult education, and sang in the church choir. She was born again in 1972. Carol enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, wilderness camping and gardening. She was active in NAMI, Friendship Place and Gideons International Auxiliary - particularly its prison ministry. Survivors include her husband, Robert Paynter; five sons: Dan, Menasha, Jamie (Annae), Seattle, Michael, Fond du Lac, Jeffrey (Sarah), Momence, IL, Christopher (Ann), Lake Zurich, IL; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and she is further survived by nieces and nephews; Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Skowronski. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at St. Thomas Church, 226 Washington St., Menasha, with The Rev. Ralph Osborne officiating. The visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established at the church which will be distributed to ministries which had a special place in Carols heart. The family would like to thank the Skowronski family for all their love and support through the years and especially during Carols final illness.
