SHIRLEY HOELZEL

Shirley Ann Hoelzel, age 66, of Menasha passed away on Wednesday evening, January 15, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on March 25, 1947 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth D. (Zenisek) Gibson. Shirley graduated from Menasha High School in 1965. On June 29, 1968 she married Wayne A. Hoelzel at St. Patricks Parish in Menasha. The marriage was blessed with one son, Brian, and 45 wedding anniversaries. In 2012 Shirley retired from SCA Tissue after 42 years, and continued her hard work by volunteering for Sturgeon for Tomorrow. She showed her eagerness to help others by her many deeds, including grocery shopping for her elderly neighbor, Dorothy. Shirleys greatest joy was time spent with her beloved family, especially with her grandsons. She also enjoyed shopping, vacations, and going out to lunch with her husband and their friends. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Wayne; her son, Brian Keith (Linda) Hoelzel, Waupaca; grandsons, Carter and Bennett Hoelzel, Waupaca; her sister, Virginia (Jerome) Baer, Neenah; her brother, Gerald (Karen) Gibson, Neenah; mother-in-law, Betty Hoelzel, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Barbara (Dennis) Clow, Menasha, Beverly Meyers, Menasha, Linda Kersten, Appleton, Sharon Hoelzel, Neenah; brother-in-law, Mike Hoelzel, Menasha; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to list. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Keith Hoelzel; twin sister, Sharon Gibson; brother, Dave Detlaff; sister, Sandra Lee (Dave) Hermes; father-in-law, Rueben Hoelzel; sister-in-law, Sue Hoelzel; brothers-in-law: Tom Hoelzel, Jerry Kersten, James Meyers. Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Menasha, with Father Paul Paider officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, January 20, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass, directly at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank the staff of Appleton Medical Center for all of your care and compassion.
