JAMES VAUGHTER

James David Vaughter, age 95, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Valley VNA in Neenah. He was born on May 27, 1918 in Little Rock, Arkansas; son of the late Tom and Dixie Vaughter. On April 10, 1943 in New York, NY, he married Marie E. Diestler, of Winneconne, WI, and the union was blessed with two sons, two daughters, and 68 wonderful years before she preceded him in death in 2011. Jim graduated Niagara High School, Niagra, WI in 1936 and Oshkosh State Teachers College. He was employed by Neenah Foundry Company in 1939 and retired from the accounting department in 1983. He was a member of the Neenah Foundrys quarter century club and was a founding officer of the Neenah Foundry credit union. Jim honorably served in the U.S. Navy, North Atlantic duty from 1942 to 1945 as radioman second class on ship U.S.S. Laramie. He was a member of the American Legion Neenah Post #33 and was very proud to take the Honor Flight in 2011. He was a member of St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church, Neenah since 1945, serving one term on the church council, many years as usher and was also a group leader with the Boys Brigade for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, attending local sporting events, especially those involving his children and grandchildren and was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Randall, of Rainier, WA and Jeffrey (Kathryn), Whiting, WI; daughters, Patricia Hade, St. Paul, MN and Pamela (Steven) Fischer, Neenah; grandchildren, Travis (Bonnie) and Dustin Vaughter, Jennifer Fairchild, Lee (Trisha) Vaughter, Kimberly, and Craig Vaughter; Meghan and Corey Hade, Ryan Fischer and Christina (Ben) Wogen; great grandchildren, Colby, Bernadette, Cooper, Fisher and Violet and sister in law, Lorraine Panske, Neenah. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Harms officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
