JAN HERZFELDT

Jan P. Herzfeldt, age 60, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011with family at his side at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born on October 21, 1950 in Neenah, the son of Lester and Joyce (Behm) Herzfeldt. After high school, Jan attended Trinidad State University in Colorado where he studied gunsmithing. On April 15, 1972 he married Kay M. Wautlet at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah. Jan had worked for the City of Neenah for 40 years, most of that time was spent with the Parks and Recreation Department. Jan was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. About a year ago, Jan landed his largest Muskie on Lake Vermilion in Minnesota, measuring 55 inches! He loved time spent with his family at his land in Waupaca County; his dear, great friends at Anglers Haven in Hayward, WI; and loved traveling, especially to Colorado to spend time with his daughter and his brother and family. Jan was an amiable, quiet, and patient soul to whom people were lovingly drawn. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kay; his son, Chad (Fiancee Jennifer Anderson), Neenah; his daughter, Heather Herzfeldt, Aurora, CO; his granddaughter, Drew Marie Vinz; his parents, Lester and Joyce Herzfeldt, Neenah; his brother, Kim (Cindy) Herzfeldt, Aurora, CO; nephew and niece, Brian and Kelly Herzfeldt; mother-in-law, Margaret Wautlet, Neenah; sister-in-law, Betty (Denny) Vanesky, Neenah; nephews, Rick and Tim Dausey; other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mervin Wautlet. The Memorial Service for Jan will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Harms officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, and the nurses of Theda Clark 5th floor and ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
