LEON NOLDEN

Leon H. Nolden, age 74, of Neenah, WI passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Appleton, WI. Leon was born on September 12, 1937 in St. Cloud, MN to Al and Effie (Steibinger) Nolden. Leon and his wife Geraldine (Geri) enjoyed over 50 years of married life together.Leon career at Secura Insurance spanned over 20 years in various capacities and locations. After Secura, Leon joined his wifes and son Waynes business, Geris Photography. He excelled in Photoshop, a software program he used to enhance and edit photos taken by the studio. Leon also designed and marketed websites for a number of companies. Leon never retired and enjoyed working until his passing.Leon is survived by his wife, Geri (Pietrzak) Nolden, and children: Lee Nolden, his wife, Lynn, and their daughter, Anna reside in Manitoba, Canada. Wayne Nolden, his wife, Kari (Miller), and their sons Sam and Parker reside in Neenah, WI. Shelley and her husband Steve (Linder) and children Madison, Carson and daughter Zoe reside in Fort Atkinson, WI. He is also survived by his brother, Harley from Georgia and many nieces and nephews. Leon is preceded in death by grandparents, parents, and his brother, Darrell.Papa Leon, as his grandkids called him, had more fun at Christmas than the grandkids did. He was always the one wanting to open presents early and would use any reason for a family get together with a pizza party. Throughout his life he enjoyed many hobbies, including being a private pilot and mastering the newest technological gadget or soft ware program. Leon and Geri loved to cruise whether on a large cruise ship to exotic places or on Leons cruiser.The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Elizabeths Hospital and Dr. Goggins for their compassion and support. They would also like to thank Fr. Dennis Ryan and the parishioners of St. Bernard Parish for their prayers and support.Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Parish (1617 West Pine Street, Appleton, WI) with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
