DONALD VOUGHT
July 20, 1949 - June 13, 2013
Obituary
Donald Ralph Vought, 63, of Fremont, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in his home. Born July 20, 1949 in Neenah, Don was the son of Ralph Vought and Mary Pettingill Johnson and stepson of Harold E. Johnson. Don attended Neenah High School and served in the United States Army. He was the completely enamored husband of Anne K. Des Marais and goofy and adoring father to his children Lucas, Nina, Emily, and Mari. Always happiest outdoors, he helped to build the Nordic Mountain ski resort in Mt. Morris and worked there among treasured friends for decades. He spent many days on his beloved Lake Poygan and tending the land and home he and Anne bought more than thirty years ago. He loved hunting, fishing, the Green Bay Packers and sports in general, Star Trek and Saturday Night Live, Bob Dylan and all sorts of groovy tunes, and many pets he claimed to hate. Donny was both rebel and romantic, with a signature style of mischief and humor but also a profound loyalty and abundant affection for those he loved. He is survived by his wife, Anne, and children, Lucas D. Vought (Katie Matthews) of Arcata, California; Nina K. Vought (Dion Block) of Menasha; Emily S. Vought of San Francisco; and Margaret K. Vought of San Diego. He leaves his sisters, Christine Vought of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Judith Vought of Menasha; Patricia Vought of Oshkosh; and Kathryn Vought (Todd Wittmann) of Neenah and his brother Thomas Vought of Oshkosh as well as nieces and nephews who adored him and close friends who stuck by him through thick and thin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Sue; and his brother, Bobby. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Ave. A reception for friends and family will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Memorials in his name may be sent to the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, W7303 County Road CS, Poynette, WI 53955.
