VIRGINIA PRATT

Virginia Pratt, age 90, died peacefully on March 21 in her apartment at the Visiting Nurses Association in Neenah. She was born May 23, 1919, in Camp Upton, Long Island, New York, the daughter of the late Dr. Frederick and Agnes Moersch of Rochester, Minnesota. Ginny spent her early years in Minnesota. She attended Carleton College and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She met her first husband, the late Dr. Frederick H. Smith, while he was completing his internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They were married in 1945 and moved to Neenah in 1947, where Dr. Smith began his practice in general surgery. Ginny was an excellent skier, swimmer, tennis player and a long time member of the North Shore Golf and Country Club. She was also an accomplished pianist and cellist and played with the Fox Valley Symphony and with various string quartets in the area for many years. She will be remembered for her exceptional musical talents, her energy and athleticism, and - most of all - for her wit and wonderful sense of humor. Ginny is survived by three children: Geoffrey (Patricia) Smith, Gallatin, Tennessee; Suzanne Smith, Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Jennifer (Paul) Pansy, Fremont; grandchildren Andrew and Dorothea Mead; her second cousin, Donald (Laurie) Moersch , Edina, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law, Eloise Moersch. She was preceded in death by her brother Dr. Robert Moersch of Jacksonville, Alabama, and her second husband, Dr. George Pratt, of Neenah. Per Ginnys wishes, no local services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association in Neenah and/or to the Fox Valley Symphony.
