THOMAS WOODROW

Thomas J. Woodrow, 63, of the town of Menasha, passed away on March 26, 2010, at his home after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Tom is survived by his wife Yvonne; son Matthew (Katie) Woodrow, of Menasha, and daughter Jessica (fianc Jacob Schmalz) Woodrow, of Milwaukee; he is further survived by his mother Joyce (Strauss) Woodrow, mother-in-law Florence Verhoven; sister Jayne (Al) Neuenfeldt, brother William (Shirlene) Woodrow, sister-in-law Lora Kitz; his two beloved granddaughters Aubrey and Brinley Woodrow; nieces and nephews: Cristy (Harvey) Sagataw, Jason (Andi) Woodrow, Allan Neuenfeldt, Lyn Neuenfeldt, Alissa (Ben) Sanford, Kyra Kitz, Brandon, Corey, Erica, and McCall Narveson; great nieces and nephews: Taylor and Alex Sagataw, Trinity and Kyra Woodrow and Taylor and Sam Perry. He is also survived by his very special friend and hunting buddy Lonnie (Loretta) Aspen, Val Woodrow, and many beloved extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas A. Woodrow and father-in-law Roy G. Verhoven. Tom was born to Joyce and the late Thomas A. Woodrow in Madison, WI, and grew up in Menasha. He graduated from Menasha High School and UW-Oshkosh. Most of his career was spent in journalism as a sports-writer, and he later published his own outdoor magazine East Central Outdoors, and did free-lance writing for several outdoor publications. Tom finished his career with Lamers Bus Lines, his favorite job being a bus driver. Toms greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends and especially his two wonderful granddaughters, who dearly loved their Papa. He also relished those special times with his son, brother, and friends hunting and fishing and always said he never felt closer to God than when out on his favorite marshes or in the woods on his parents property. Another of his greatest passions was playing, watching, and coaching baseball and softball. He devoted much of his life to coaching Menasha Legion Baseball, the Menasha Macs, and coached his sons baseball teams starting at little league through Babe Ruth. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church in Neenah where he was married in 1969 to his high-school sweetheart Yvonne. His family is so grateful for the caring support of their church friends, and especially the Reverend Robert B. Hays and Reverend Tony Fuller. The Memorial Service for Tom will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 11:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home, and again Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Toms name may be designated for Childhood Diabetes research, First United Methodist Church, cancer research, or a charity of your choice. Toms family would also like to extend their heart-felt thanks to the staff of Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice Services, whose loving care allowed Tom to spend his last weeks at home surrounded by the family he cherished.
