Scott Berton

Scott L. Berton, 67, formerly of Oshkosh, WI, passed away September 23, 2026. Born to Lawrence and Marilyn Berton on December 3, 1958.

For many years, Scott faced the severe and complex challenges of schizophrenia. Though this illness brought overwhelming noise and heavy battles to his mind, it never managed to dull the beautiful, quiet essence of who he truly was. Scott possessed a profound and unshakeable love for God. He spent countless hours reading scripture, praying, and finding immense comfort in his faith. He also felt a deep, spiritual kinship with nature. He loved trees- their strength, their stillness, and the way they stood tall through every season. He loved cheering on the Packers and Badgers. He lived his life to a beautiful soundtrack, listening to his favorite music. Scott’s favorite times were spent at family holiday gatherings, where he brought warmth and laughter to the table. He truly loved the holiday meal and could always be counted on to enthusiastically ask for seconds, especially mashed potatoes, appreciating both the food and the company of those he loved most.

He is preceded in death by his parents Larry and Marilyn.

Scott is survived by his siblings Mark (Stephany) Berton, Sandy Dorton, Cindy Berton, Paul Berton, and Michelle (Todd Broeske) Teresinski. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Care Partners of Appleton for the years of care he was lovingly given.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Scott’s name.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday October 2nd at Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W Doty Ave, Neenah, WI, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Scott will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park.
