CLIFTON ALLEN

Clifton W. Clif Allen, Neenah, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. He was born April 27, 1921 in Waupaca, son of the late Otis and Elsie (Conrad) Allen. Clif served in the US Air Force during WWII, being stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He married Nora Behm on September 5, 1942 in the Town of Black Wolf. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2004. Clif was employed with Soo Line Railroad for 40 years and was a member of their Rusty Rails group. His first love was gardening and Clif was an exceptional gardener. He also had a passion for wood turning. Clif volunteered with the Boys and Girls Brigade in Neenah and at Camp Onaway in Waupaca, helping with special woodworking projects. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed hunting trips to the Bad River Indian Reservation with his hunting group near Mellon, Wisconsin. Clif was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah where he also served as an usher. He was a member of the Northeast Wisconsin Wood Turners Guild, and the American Legion Post #33 of Neenah. Survivors include two sons: Gary (Kathleen) Allen, Palmdale, CA, Glen (Sandy) Allen, Neenah; four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Lori) Allen, Federal Way, WA, Christopher Allen, Palmdale, CA, Michelle Missy Allen, Appleton, Alyssa (Jeramy) Howard, Neenah; and four great-grandchildren: Savannah and Kiara Allen, Caitlyn and Logan Howard. Clif was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, June 8, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah, with the Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Theda Care at Home Hospice. Words can never express our heart-felt gratitude for all the caring attention Theda Care Hospice has given to our Dad in his final days. Dad embraced all the loving nurses and support staff that worked with his healthcare issues and considered them part of his extended family. Dad, A thousand times we needed you, a thousand times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. Your heart of gold stopped beating, two twinkling eyes closed to rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best. ~~ Your loving family.
