Obituary

Leona Louisa Borofka, age 102, of Neenah, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Prairie Home Assisted Living in Menasha.  She was born November 22, 1913 in Clintonville, WI, daughter of the late Adolph and Hulda (Yordi) Krueger.

Leona married Frank Borofka on September 23, 1950 at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville.

During WWII Leona worked at the Milwaukee Ordinance Plant and at Cutler and Hammer.  In 1950, they moved to Neenah.  Leona was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.  She was a Sunday School teacher, and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. 

Leona loved sewing, growing flowers, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, Polka dancing and playing cards.

She is survived by a daughter, Joy Case, Neenah; two grandchildren: Jeremy Case (special friend Jenny Reese), Winneconne, Jennifer Case, Neenah; a sister, Alma Hansen, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Anne (George) Olson, Solon, OH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leona was preceded in death by two brothers: Alfred Krueger and Leonard Krueger, Clintonville; a sister, Dorothy Tietz, Bradenton, FL; brothers-in-law: John Tietz and Clarence Michaud, Bradenton, FL, LeRoy Hansen, Clintonville, Albert (Rose) Borofka, Halifax, MA; and a sister-in-law, Marie (Louis) Heaney, Racine.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 140 S. Green Bay Rd., Neenah, with Rev. Dennis E. Ellisen officiating.  The visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah.  In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Prairie Home, House of Joy, and Theda Care Home Hospice, especially Mary, for all their care and compassion.
