CHARLES BAXTER

Charles L. Baxter, Neenah, age 71, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family at Theda Clark Medical Center on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. He was born April 30, 1937 in Antigo; son of the late William Sr. and Lucinda (Opper) Baxter. Charles married Bernita Borkenhagen on September 20, 1958 in Wausau. Charles worked as a Union Iron Worker for over 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and card playing. His part-time job was his sharpening service. Charles was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a founding member and Past-President of the Local #8 retiree's club. Survivors include his wife, Bernita; four children: Duane (Roberta) Baxter, Rosemary (Terrance) LaCroix, Lori (Richard) Lehman, Mary (Craig) McCarry; four grandchildren: Nicole LaCroix, Maxwell and Emma Lehman, Sean McCarry; two brothers: Lyle Baxter, John (Tip) Baxter; five sisters: Joyce Krause, Roxanne (Fred) Peguse, Margaret (Byron) Dickman, Eva (Ronald) Fronek, and Carol Jean Haas. Charles was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; four brothers and three sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009, 11:00 AM, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Rd, Neenah, with the Rev. Jon Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name. The family would like to thank the Nurses, Doctors and staff of Theda Clark; especially the CCU and 5th floor. Also, thanks to all the members of Gloria Dei who have been so supportive during these past several days.
