Obituary
Donald Russell Rick, 64, of Neenah Wisconsin, passed away January 31st, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born to the late Russell and Angeline (Roettger) Rick on September 22, 1949 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He grew up in Wonewoc, Wisconsin and while working on the family farm he learned his lifelong passion of hunting and fishing from his father. Don was a confirmed member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Wonewoc and attended Wonewoc Center High School. Don moved to Neenah, WI with his first wife, Peggi (Cumings) Rick, where they raised three children. Don attended Fox Valley Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Machine Operations which he used to pursue a career at Kimtech for 26 years. On October 7th, 1995 Don married the love of his life, Carol (Neubauer) Rick, and added 4 step-children and 6 step-grandchildren to his family. Dons passions included spending time with family and friends, antique steam and gas engines, shooting trap and skeet, hunting, fishing, traveling, restoring and driving Ford Model T cars, gardening, canning, and wine making. Don was a lifelong member of the Twin City Rod and Gun Club, Oshkosh Gun Club, and was involved in numerous Antique Steam and Gas Engine Clubs. Don enjoyed traveling around the country with family and friends to attend auctions and gas engine shows. Don is survived by His loving wife Carol Rick of Neenah; his children: Michael (Lindsay) Rick of Plymouth; Matthew Rick and his children Mckenzie and Mason of West Bend; Rachel Rick (Luke Searl) of Port Washington; 4 Step-children; 6 step-grandchildren; siblings: Diane (Marv) Hutter; Ronald (Marietta) Rick; Debbie Rick; one uncle; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Darlene. A visitation for Don will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Rd., Neenah, and again Saturday, February 8, 2014, at church, from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 11:00 A.M. In Lieu of Flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Dons name to educate youth in gun marksmanship and safety. Don was surrounded by love and will be dearly missed by his wife, family and friends. His memories and stories will forever live on in our hearts. Dons family would like to give a special thank you to Appleton Medical Center, especially the nurses and staff of Floor 8 for all the wonderful care they gave during his multiple hospitalizations.
