RONALD WIDEMAN

Ronald Hans Wideman, age 80, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 31, 1928 in Ladysmith, WI, son of the late Fred and Agnetta (Hendrickson) Wideman. He married June Block on May 7, 1955 at St. Marys Church in Menasha. She preceded him in death on October 11, 1977. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Ron owned his own businesses, Poly-Wide and Widemans Research. He was also employed by Kimberly Clark Corp. and retired in 1999. Ron loved to cook and play cribbage, a love that was shared by all his kids. He also enjoyed watching the Packers and listening to the Brew Crew on the radio. He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (JR) Berman, Wild Rose, Vicki (Kelly) Sokel, Menasha; two sons: Daniel Wideman, Greg Wideman, both of Menasha; ten grandchildren: Josh (Stacy) Berman, Tim (Stephanie) Berman, Nicholas Berman, Michael (Heather) Rausch, Jessica (Shawn) Street, Stefanie and Ashley Wideman, KaiLeigh, Kaitlen, and Jake Sokel, all of Menasha; nine great grandchildren: Josh Jr. and Halle Berman, Wyatt and Hanna Berman, Gabriel, Cassee Jo Berman, Eve and Donovan Rausch, Cadyn Street, all of Menasha; a sister-in-law, Mert Wideman, Amherst, Mike Berman, Menasha, Gary Konetzke, Appleton, also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Eleanor and Lucille, and six brothers: Harlie, Neil, Chester, Guy, Harold and Robert. A funeral service for Ron will be held at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. Ellisberg. You have been there for Dad from the very beginning. Your special trips to the nursing home and phone calls to Dad were appreciated. You are going to be missed in this community. Madison will be lucky to have a doctor with as much compassion as you. Best of luck to you and your family. Dad, thank you for loving us as much as you did!
