JEAN FUCIK

Jean E. Fucik, age 86, formerly of Menasha, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the Wisconsin Veterans' Home, King. Jean was born July 3, 1922, in Hancock, Michigan; daughter of Edgar and Elizabeth (Hodges) Richards. Following high school, Jean met George Fucik in Hancock while he was in college there. They were united in marriage on April 19, 1944, and George now resides at the Wisconsin Veterans' Home. The Fuciks were members of the Congregational United Church of Christ for 59 years, and Jean served on the board of the diaconate. She was involved with her children in Girl Scouting, serving as a leader, and was also a den mother for the Boy Scouts. Jean and George have been members of the Ridgeway County Club for 51 years. Jean enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, gardening, and knitting and sewing. Since 1986, they have spent their winters in Naples, Florida. Survivors include her beloved husband, George C. Jr.; her daughter, Julie (Don) Fahrenkrug, Menasha; her sons: George E. Fucik (special friend, Lisa Gilbert), Neenah, and Thomas (Melody) Fucik, Appleton; and her grandchildren: Laura (Kevin) Kox, Stefanie Fucik, Ben Fucik, Emmeline Fucik, Jake Fahrenkrug, Nick Fahrenkrug, and Zach Fahrenkrug. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Margaret (Bob) Hamilton and Dorothy (Bill) Innes, and her brother, Edgar "Bud" (Mary) Richards. The Funeral Service for Jean will be on Friday, March 6, 2009, 11:00 AM, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 1511 Nicolet Blvd., Neenah with Rev. Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Visitation will be at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Neenah's Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials in her name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 201 E. Bell St., Neenah, 54956.
