MARGURITE NEWCOMB

Margurite Patricia (Weisgerber) Newcomb, age 82 of Menasha, passed away peacefully late Sunday, February 2, 2014. She was born August 19, 1931 to the late George and Marguerite (Le comte) Weisgerber. Marge was a Menasha High School Class of 1949 graduate, she was also their first Homecoming Queen. Marge loved being a Blue Jay and stayed active in their alumni reunions. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah and was forced to retire due to illness. She would like to be remembered not only as a cancer survivor but as a survivor of lifes many trials and troubles. And let it be said, she baked good bread! Marge found great joy in her grandchildren and enjoyed baking and cooking for them as well as everyone else. She was famous for her perogies, relish, and pepper jelly recipes. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, crafting and creating something from nothing. She always considered herself an artist first in her heart. One lesson she always wished to teach others is to not waste any of their God-given talents. Marge loved to sing and spent time as a member of the St. Patrick Choir and the YNots. She was a member of the Menasha Historical Society and made contributions of her creative talents to anything they needed. Marge will be missed by her five children: Sarah Newcomb, Milwaukee; Patrick Newcomb, Menasha; Matthew Newcomb, Loveland, CO; Eileen (David) Acker, Menasha; and Mary (Kevin) Henseler, St. Paul; her grandchildren: Salina; Kira; Sean; Emily; Molly; Kaytlyn; Grace; Ian; Max; Ava; Margaux; and Bridget; as well as great-grandchildren: Reyna; Selianna; Joshua; Myles; and Eleanor. Also survived by her sister, Corinne (Art Klepps) Fitzgibbon; her brother, George Weisgerber; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Weisgerber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February, 7, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Parish, Menasha. Visitation for family and friends at church at 9:00 until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in her name to the Menasha Historical Society.
