Raleigh, Virginia L. Ginny Ginny Raleigh, 69, of the town of Menasha, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Ginny was born September 2, 1940, in Merrill, the daughter of Harland and Dorothy (Duncan) King. She grew up in Menasha and was a graduate of Menasha High School. Ginny then attended Fox Valley Technical College and began her lifes work with Theda Clark Medical Center. She was united in marriage to Richard M. Raleigh on December 25, 1964, in Mobridge, S.D., and spent 45 wonderful years together. Her professional nursing career was very busy with initiating the diabetes program and education at the hospital, as well as working with the volunteers and the auxiliary. Ginny also coordinated the Lifeline program. She was on the Board of Directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and received awards for her tireless efforts. Ginnys involvement with the Faith United Methodist Church in Neenah was very deep. There were numerous groups and committees she was a part of. Ginny helped to coordinate the greeters for worship; she was active with the Prayer Team, LCM, and Card Ministry; and she volunteered as a minister of hospitality. Ginny enjoyed craftwork and cross-stitching. Her creations were often donated to the church. Ginny and Dicks home was also a home for their beloved cats and dogs over the years. They were a very important and vital part of their family. The family cat Thumper was featured on Channel 5 as she would wake Ginny at night when Ginnys blood sugar would drop to a dangerous level for her. Her current cat Katie was very loved and was an important part of her life. Survivors include her husband, Dick; three sisters: Carol (Stephen) Strelow, Appleton, Yvonne OConnell, North Freedom, and Kathy King, Westminster, CO; a brother, Keith King, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Joanne (Norbert) Schemm, Appleton; and brother-in-law, George, Jr. (Sharon) Raleigh, Neenah. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Doroland Schultz. The Memorial Service for Ginny will be Friday, June 11, 2010, 6:00 p.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, Neenah, with Rev. Mary Council-Austin officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday until the hour of the service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ginnys honor may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
