ALICE MUEHLENBEIN

Alice M. Muehlenbein, of Menasha, age 78, passed away after a hard fought battle with diabetes and its complications on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born May 10, 1934, to the late Eddie and Ethel (Jenks) Pagel, their second to the youngest daughter. Alice married the love of her life and best friend, Frank Muehlenbein, on November 20, 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. Devoted to her husband of 58 years, Alice loved spending time with him, and they enjoyed doing things together. They loved being part of their community. She and Frank were members of St. Mary Catholic Church and she was active in the Nicolet Ladies, the womens auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus. Alice spent most of her life as a homemaker and loved it. She was the best mother and grandmother around! Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid bowler and golfer, participating in several leagues over the years. She loved to read and shared her love of reading with her daughter and granddaughters. She also enjoyed spending time at the familys cottage in Townsend. In recent years, she enjoyed her afternoon card games with her card club, even hosting at her house. When her children were young, she was an active volunteer in Boy and Girl Scouts and other school activities. During her childrens school years, she was proud of her work with the St. Marys band parents, holding officer positions including president for many years. As her children grew up and had children of their own, Alice became very involved in her grandchildrens lives, attending as many of their activities as possible, in and out of state. She would tell anyone she met how proud she was of each and every one of them. She was the grandma to call for any baking, crafting, sewing tips or just to chat. Survivors include her husband, Frank; three children: Andy Muehlenbein, Larry (Sandy) Muehlenbein, Karen (Joe) Fahley; seven grandchildren: Sarah (Mark) Schroeder, Stephanie and Bradley Muehlenbein, Michael (Carissa) Muehlenbein, Alisha, Alaina and Katie Fahley; and a sister, Helen (Lincoln) Foster. Alice was preceded in death by two sisters: Stella Munsche and Erna Callaway. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 528 Second St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. The family is grateful to the many people who provided Alice with such good medical care over the years, including the staff at Appleton Medical Center, especially Tracy from Cardiac Rehab; Appleton Cardiology; Affinity Medical Group, especially Dr. Nancy Homburg and Donna Lee Schou; Fox Valley Nephrology Partners; and the team at Fresenius Medical Care Home Therapies. Your compassion and care allowed her to live her life to the fullest.
