Obituary

Donald G. Don Krause, age 69 of Neenah, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born in Neenah, WI on October 23, 1943, son of the late George and Nellie (McNitt) Krause. He graduated from Neenah High School and then from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He worked in Seattle for a couple of years and then returned to Wisconsin and was employed by the American Can Co. as a press operator. After retiring, he volunteered at Payne Art Museum in Oshkosh, and with swimming classes at the YMCA in Neenah. Don was a City of Neenah history buff. He enjoyed traveling, reading, swimming, art, visiting lighthouses, sketching and attending estate sales. He loved his dog, Freddie, and enjoyed playing with him and taking him for walks. He cared about his niece, Bethany; his nephew, Elias; and enjoyed spending time with his cousin, Jean Arnold; good friends Marcie and Liz; and neighbors. Don was a very quiet person, but had a good sense of humor, and most every person he met he liked. Survivors include his sister, Carol (Donald) Fischer, Appleton; nieces: Lisa Fischer (Martin) Kroll, Appleton; Rebecca Fischer, Middleton, WI; and nephew, Steven Fischer, Appleton; grand niece, Bethany Kroll; grand nephew, Elias Kroll; his aunt, Joyce Krause, Menasha; as well as many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Krause, Neenah; aunts and uncles. A joint memorial service for Don and his brother, Terry, who passed away on February 5, 2013, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the hour of service at the funeral home. Urn burial will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dons name.
