JOHN HEFTI

On Thursday, May 9, John Nicholas Hefti passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Theda Clark. John graduated from Neenah High School and attended Yale and Columbia Universities followed by Yale Drama School. He served in United States Army during the Korean War. As a member of Actors Equity, John began his career at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, the Cleveland Playhouse and in California. After showcasing his thespian talents from east coast to west coast, John came home to the Fox Valley where he was on air at WHBY in Appleton, taught in the Drama Department at Lawrence University and acted with the Attic Theatre and Riverside Players in plays including A Christmas Carol, Sound of Music, On Golden Pond, I Hate Hamlet, School for Scandal and many more. Life was his stage. John had a passion for education, the Arts, travel and was a mentor to many. John is survived by his life partner, Sally Seyler Orm, son Scott (Gail); grandchildren Wylie, Graham (Brittany) and Cree; great grandson Jayden; and Sally's daughters who were like his own, Jennifer Orm-Seager (Sarah) and Andrea Orm-Gilbert (Jonathan and Maya). He was preceded in death by his father Hans Hefti and his mother Sylvina Cosmos Hefti. Special thanks to the doctors of Mayo Clinic, the ICU and Hospice Teams at Theda Clark and John's many audiences. The Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Local Red Cross and Fox Valley Humane Society.
