SARAH CHRISTIANSON

Sarah C. (Dobbe) Christianson, age 94 of Winchester, passed away early Tuesday, January 11, 2011. She was born March 20, 1916 to the late Melvin and Cora (Torbenson) Dobbe in Alban, WI. On December 18, 1948, she married the late Howard Christianson. Before her marriage to Howard, Sarah worked as a housekeeper, nanny, and friend for the Marshall and Charlotte Smith family and three children: Sandra, Howard, and Stephen. Her involvement with the Smith family extended from Neenah to Green Bay and New York. In Green Bay it also involved serving meals for parties which included famous neighbor Green Bay Packer Don Hudson. Once she started her family, she was a stay at home mom. Later, she became a nurses aide at Greentree Nursing Home in Clintonville. Sarah was known as a great cook, the family historian, and the Christmas Lady; having always made sure Christmas was possible for her siblings. She also enjoyed gardening and was involved with the Mary and Rebekah Circles at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. Sarah is survived by her sons: Rodney (JoNel); Howard (special friend Diane); and Daryl (Mary); grandchildren: Emily; Adam; Brice; Jill; Kimberly; step-grandchildren: Christopher and Renee Prey; and Robin (Stephanie) Pendleton; brothers: Clifford Dobbe and David (Bonnie) Dobbe. She is further survived by sisters-in-law: Hazel Dobbe and Marge Christianson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard; a son, Gary (Bernie) and her grandchildren Andy and Hannah; her siblings: Doris (Ralph) Sorenson, Owen Dobbe, Ada (Joseph) Starzak, Leslie (Florence) Dobbe, Everett Dobbe; Mae Dobbe; and Elsie Dobbe; sister-in-law Susan Dobbe and brother-in-law Ronald Christianson. The funeral service for Sarah will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, Pastor Dan Luett officiating. Her niece, Pastor Carol Christianson, will deliver the homily/sermon. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank Kate Christianson for her loving and compassionate care for Sarah.
