WILFRIED SCHNEIDER

Schneider, Wilfried Wilfried (Wil) Paul Hans Schneider, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Wil was born on November 29, 1945 in Hannover, Germany to the late Christopher and Hermine (Rettner) Schneider. In January of 1954 the family made the trans-Atlantic voyage to start their new lives in America. They settled in Neenah, where Christopher was employed as a tailor at Lohse Exclusive Tailors, who sponsored the familys naturalization to America. In 1959 the family moved to live on the grounds of the Bergstrom-Mahler Art Museum, where they were caretakers until they retired to Florida in 1974. Wil pursued a career in engineering and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1970. During his schooling he worked as a co-op student with Kimberly-Clark and after graduating he accepted a permanent position making KC his lifelong career. In September 1973, he married Robin Sue Allhiser in Shawano, with whom he had three beautiful children. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, sharing his childhood experiences at Point Beach, Two Rivers, attending stock car races with his son, and taking many day-long trips to museums and historical sites with the whole family. Wil settled down with his family in Neenah where he began his journey up the engineering ladder with Kimberly-Clark. During his 35 years with the company he held many positions, eventually becoming a Global Advisor. His position as a Global Advisor fulfilled his dream of becoming a world traveler. Wils travel took him beyond just the States to Australia, Canada, Columbia, England, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan, and Thailand. Wil was passionate about all his travels but his heart was captured in Thailand. He loved the people, the history and the rich sense of culture. He brought this culture home and shared it with his family and often talked of traveling back to Thailand just to visit . Wil retired in November 2008 with an invitation to do consultation work whenever he was ready. In his retirement Wil enjoyed a leisure life, indulging in his passion for classical music and the love of his cat, Josie. Wil is survived by his children, Melissa Kay (Scott) Flegal, Heidi Ann Schneider, Michael Paul Schneider and former spouse RobinSue Allhiser Schneider. At Wils request no visitation or services will be held. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
