Obituary
Michael J. Paulson, age 60, of Neenah, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1948 in Neenah, to the late John and Genevieve (Whitman) Paulson. Mike was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1969 to 1971. On January 21, 1972, he married Marsha Heinz in Oshkosh. He was an active member of the Neenah Lions Club from 1984-1989 and served as President for one year. Mike was always up for an adventure whether it be attempting to summit Longs Peak in Colorado, traveling to the Amazon and even providing Grandpa Daycare for the most recent love of his life, his grandson, whom he called his little spark . He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and reading books about mountain climbing. Mike took great pride in his woodworking and although he didnt always follow the rule of measure twice, cut once , his creations always ended up being beautiful. Mike will be sadly missed by his wife of 37 years, Marsha; his daughter, Brooke (Brad) Cardoza, Neenah; his son, Michael John Paulson, Neenah; his grandson, Evan; four sisters: Kathy Ziske, Neenah, Mary Beth Paulson, Neenah, Barbie Paulson, Neenah, Barbara Celichowski, Iowa; a brother, Steve (Beth) Paulson, Menasha. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, John Jr. in 1967; two sisters, Sue Paulson and Debbie Baldauf; his mother and father-in-law; and his brother-in-law. A Funeral Service will be held at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home on Monday, March 16, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Harms officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Wasco, surgical assistant, Kelli Driscoll, Dr. Anthony Phillips and the entire staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology and the Martha Siekman Cancer Center. Also, thank you to Diane Hiller with ThedaCare at Home Hospice, as well as the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice for their care and support given to Mike and his entire family. Dad, we miss you so much. I promise to make sure Evan remembers what an amazing Papa he had. Thank you for being the most wonderful father and loving grandfather anyone could ever have. We love you!
