LELAH CHAFFEE

Lelah Chaffee, age 97, passed into Heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Garden View Assisted Living, in Menasha. She was born September 30, 1924, in Sheboygan, WI, daughter of the late Hugo and Fay (Hoffman) Gerhartz.

At an early age she went to live with her grandparents, Henry and Mary Hoffman, in Stockbridge, WI. Lelah attended Stockbridge Public School through her sophomore year. She then attended Sheboygan Central High School where she graduated in 1942. On May 13, 1944, she married Charles A. Chaffee, of Adrian, Michigan, they enjoyed 66 years together before Charles passed on July 18, 2010.

Lee devoted her whole life being a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and was very cleaver with crafts.

Lee is survived by her half-sister, Arlyn Meyers; special nieces: Carol (Marvin) Switchenberg, and Mary (Ralph) Shaw; nephews: James (Gloria) Swentner, and Gary Gerhartz; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Henry and Mary Hoffman; sister, Lorraine (Harold) Swentner; brother, Gordon (Lorraine) Gerhartz; and brother in-law, Harold Meyers.

Funeral service for Lee will be 11:00 AM on Friday March 18, 2022, at WESTGOR FUNERAL HOME, Menasha, with Rev. Tom Fritz officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday morning beginning at 10:00 until the 11:00 AM service.

Lee's family would like to thank Ann and the staff at Grandview Assisted Living, for all the wonderful care and compassion given to Lee. They would also like to thank Asera Hospice, especially Kala, Tammy, Cris, and Amanda, for the care and kindness they provided at the end of life.
