ALERD ANDERSON

Anderson, Alerd E. Alerd E. Anderson, 79, of Winchester, died Friday, October 9, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Alerd was born November 9, 1929, in Milwaukee, the son of Gust and Laura (Gilbertson) Anderson. The Anderson family moved from Milwaukee to the Winneconne area when Alerd was in high school. Following graduation from Winneconne High School in 1948, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a torpedo man for four years aboard the USS Besugo 321 submarine in the Pacific. Upon his return home, Alerd was united in marriage to Germaine R. Konow on September 24, 1955, at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester. He was employed with Neenah Heating & Sheet Metal and purchased the business in 1967. They changed their name to Anderson Heating & Sheet Metal and relocated to Green Bay Road in Neenah in 1974. On November 1, 1991, Alerd and Germaine sold the business to their son, Mark, and Alerd retired. Alerd enjoyed working with sheet metal, custom woodworking and clock making. He helped remodel two of his sons homes. In the past he like to fish and deer hunt, and he built a handmade 13 foot remote-controlled submarine. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Germaine; three sons, Mark Anderson and Larry Anderson, of Winchester, and Clyde Anderson, Neenah; three sisters-in-law, Iona Anderson, Winchester, and Betty Baker and Sally Trelka, of Oshkosh; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Loren, and a sister, Angeline (Raymond) Johnson. In accordance with Alerds wishes, no funeral services will be held. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and the chaplain at St. Elizabeths Fourth Floor and ICU for the care provided to Alerd and to Pastor Dan Luett for his ministering and support.
