Obituary
Age 94, formerly of Neenah, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Brewster Village in Grand Chute. Fred was born March 12, 1915, in Weehawken, N.J., the son of Frederick and Lena Grupe. Fred was united in marriage to Theo Patterson on February 4, 1939 in Connecticut. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years with American Can Company. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Theo; his daughter, Susan (Jim) Clapper, Neenah, his son, William Clapper, Hubertus; two grandchildren, Steven (Mary Beth) Barnes, Neenah, and Paula (Bryan) Hacker, Appleton; four great grandchildren, Haley, Alyssa, and Addison Barnes, and Carson Hacker; and two brothers: Howard (Marion) Grupe, Georgia and Glenn (Zona) Grupe, California. A private family service for Fred will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.

My sympathy and condolences to the entire family. I had the privilege of working with Mr. Grupe when he came to the Fox Valley Academy office to purchase scrip. He was such a fine man and it was a pleasure to get to know him in this unique way. He was always so pleasant and joyful. It was a treat to complete our business transactions. I am sure that all of you will be missing him so much. Again, my sympathy to you for your loss. Elaine Bandy
