DAVID JONES

David J. Jones, age 94 of Neenah, passed away Thursday, October 07, 2010. He was born August 26, 1916 in Neenah to the late David L. and Amelia (Peterson) Jones. On July 25, 1943 he married Thelma Waters, who preceded him in death on August 13, 1994. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on July 25, 1994. David was a very active member of the Neenah community. He joined the National Manufacturers Bank of Neenah as a bookkeeper on December 7, 1936, and retired from its successor, the Marine National Back of Neenah, as Senior Vice President and cashier as well as Director of the bank of December 13, 1976. He was also active in several banking and accounting associations and was active in the Boys and Girls Brigade serving as a leader, Captain, and a member of the Board of Directors. He was one of the recipients of the S. F. Shattuck award and was a member of the Elisha Kent Kane Lodge # 61. After retirement, Dave and Thelma spent considerable time at their home in Door County. David was proud veteran, having enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a private in 1942 and was discharged as a First Sergeant in 1946. David is survived by his niece: Mrs. Ann (Roger) Schmidt, Appleton; and his nephew Charles Cotton, Appleton. He is also survived by a very special friend Ms. Gail F. Anderson, Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters. A Memorial Service for David will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah, Rev. Paul Huxtable officiating. Visitors are encouraged to visit after the service. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Davids name.
