LORRAINE SWENTNER

Lorraine A. Swentner, of Neenah, age 93, was called to heaven on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Villa Saint Clare Assisted Living. She was born on August 5, 1917 in Stockbridge, daughter of the late Hugo and Fay (Hoffman) Gerhartz, and was a Neenah resident for over 70 years. Lorraine was united in marriage to Harold G. Swentner on August 1, 1936. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1992. She worked for the National Manufacturers Bank for 14 years and retired from Theda Clark Hospital in 1979. Lorraine loved to knit and crochet, donating hundreds of mittens to the Boys and Girls Brigade over many years. She was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed crafting. Her children and grandchildren were the lucky recipients of many lovely afghans. Lorraine enjoyed trips to the casino with her sister and brother-in-law and card club with her friends. She and Harold were fortunate to be able to spend much of their retirement traveling and going to their get-a-way on Shawano Lake. Lorraine was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Neenah for 46 years. Survivors include her children: James (Gloria) Swentner, Neenah, Carol (Marvin) Swichtenberg, Menasha, Mary (Ralph) Shaw, Shawano; grandchildren: Susan (Cary) Farah, Neenah, Ann Swichtenberg, Menasha, David (Mary) Swichtenberg, Greenville, Scott (Natalia) McKellips, Madison, Steve (Laurel) McKellips, Florida, Tim (Heather) McKellips, Wisconsin Rapids, Diane (Ronald) Smith, Norway, MI, Lori (James) West, Vulcan, MI; great-grandchildren: Hailey Farah, Rachel and Tyler Swichtenberg, Ava McKellips, Gabrielle and Olivia McKellips, Connor, Ethan and Finnegan McKellips, Shelby and James West, Nicole, Amanda, Sarah and David Smith; her beloved sister, Lelah Lee Chaffee, Menasha; step-sister, Arlyn Meyers, Sheboygan; sister-in-law, Edna Palmer, Neenah; and numerous nieces, nephews. Lorraine was blessed to have great-great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Lorraine Gerhartz; brothers-in-law, Charles Chaffee and John Palmer; and a step-brother-in-law, Harold Meyers. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. The visitation will be held Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the American Diabetes Association.
