Obituary
One can only Imagine the Heavenly Homecoming as the last of a generation was Welcomed Home.
Margaret M. Damie, age 102 ½ of Menasha, passed away peacefully early Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Valley VNA. She was born in Menasha on July 15, 1920 to the late Carl and Frances (Muntner) Heitl, and remained a Menasha resident her entire life until February 2023 when she moved to the VNA in Neenah.
Margaret married John Damie on October 1, 1955 at Menasha's St. Mary's Catholic Church where she had always been an active member. She was part of the church's first funeral choir and volunteered many hours helping with church rummage sales, bazaars and other activities.
Margaret Retired from the Banta Corp after nearly 40 years of service. Margaret loved bowling, traveling and dancing. She also loved casino visits with her nieces, weekly lunch and cards with her card club, and a good Old Fashioned whenever possible.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Mark) Jung; her granddaughter, Megan (Joe) Paalman; and by many, many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Joseph: and his wife, Joan; and by all five of her siblings.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 528 Second St., Menasha, with Fr. Michael Lightner officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. A celebration of Margaret's life will continue immediately following mass at Stone Toad Bar & Grill, 1109 S. Oneida St., Menasha until 4:00 P.M. Margaret will join John at St. Margaret Cemetery at a later date.
Margaret's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Valley VNA and the Hospice Team for their care and compassion, as well as to her very Special neighbors, friends, and family who helped with so much, making it possible for her to stay in her home until this past February.
