MARY BODWAY

Age 90, of Neenah, left her earthly home on October 14, 2009 with her family by her side, following a short illness. Mary was able to enjoy her last weeks at her second home up in Oconto with her sons family sitting by the fireplace watching the birds at the feeders. Mary was born May 4, 1919 in Manchester, England. She married Edward G. Bodway on June 6, 1945 while he was stationed in England during WWII. She moved with him back to Neenah as a war time bride to raise a family. Mary worked for many years at J.C. Penneys, the Appleton Kmart, and later at Josephs Shoes in Neenah. She enjoyed her days sewing and spending time with her family and friends. Mary always enjoyed shopping with her special friend, Julia Beyer. Mary was always known for her strong English accent and was proud of her Irish background. She loved a good conversation and sharing with others stories about her family back in England. She was a long time parishioner at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and lived her life with strong religious conviction. Survivors include two sons: Anthony (Peggy) Bodway, Waukesha, Blaise (Marcia Nachtrab) Bodway, Oconto; seven grandchildren: Shelley (Todd) Oxenreider, Christopher (Kay), Andrew, TJ, Danielle, Nicholas and Travis; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews in England; and special friends: Janet and Phillip Burnside, Pat Laux, Ann Kobussen and her neighbors, the Flores family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers: Jack, Ted, Frederick, James and Joseph; and a sister, Agnes Gee. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Margarets Cemetery. A memorial in Marys honor is being established by her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Vallhaven Care Center, Dr. Scott Davis, Heartland Hospice and her family friends Mary Schultz and Dawn Melland who helped to care for her in Neenah and Oconto.
