EARL SCHMIDLI

Earl K. Schmidli, of Neenah, age 83, passes away Friday, April 16, 2010, at his home. He was born November 8, 1926 in Menasha, son of the late Emil and Alma (Grunske) Schmidli Sr. Earl was a resident of Neenah/Menasha all his life, graduating from Neenah High School in the class of 1941. He entered the military and served proudly in the US Army being stationed in the Asiatic-South Pacific Theatre during WWII. On September 26, 1953, he married Nancy Ternes at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh and they were together for 56 years. He was employed with Kimberly-Clark at the Badger Globe Mill for over 42 years. Earl loved fishing, hunting and watching sports most of his life. He also enjoyed spending time on his wooded property in Waushara County with his family and friends. Earl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Neenah, AMVETS, and a life member of the NRA. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his four children: Daniel (Katharine) Schmidli, Sierra Vista, AZ; Thomas (Elaine) Schmidli, Kewaunee; Nanette Schmidli and a special friend, Pete Santkuyl, Winchester; and Jennifer Schmidli, Neenah; three sisters: Evelyn, Mildred and Louise; two brothers-in-law: Lawrence McClelland and Matt Salzsieder. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Scott; a brother, Emil Schmidli Jr; three brothers-in-law: David, Ronald and John Ternes; and three sisters-in-law: Judith McClelland, Sandra Salzsieder and Rebecca Schmidli. A graveside funeral service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Full military rites will follow the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name. The family would like to thank the staff of Vallhaven Care Center and also Heartland Hospice for all their wonderful care of Earl.
