Obituary
Bret J. Rasmussen, age 49, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his home. He was born June 16, 1960, to Darlene (Tschirgi) Rasmussen, Neenah, and the late James Rasmussen. Bret was a 1978 graduate of Neenah High School and attended Fox Valley Technical College. He was employed for many years with SCA Tissue as a journeyman mechanic. Bret enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, spending time up North at their land near Thorp in the Chequamegon, going to the dog park with his dog, Willow, and laying in the sun on the beach. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, but he lived for his sons and the fulfillment of being with them. His mom, Darlene, was his best friend. Bret is survived by two sons: Ryan Rasmussen, Iowa City, Iowa, and Derek (Stephanie) Rasmussen, Neenah, and newly-born granddaughter, Marlie. He is further survived by his mother, Darlene; sisters: Kim (Mike) Schaefer, Stockbridge, and Debbie (Andy) Jorgensen, Howard; as well as two nephews and a niece: Nick, Kyle, and Claire. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim, and Darlenes life-long partner, Tom McGinnis. The Memorial Service for Bret will be held Monday, April 26, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

My love and sympathy is with all of you as we grieve the loss of such an amazing man. He undoubtedly would want his loved ones to come together and celebrate his life through appreciating all of lifes blessings. Let the strength of your connection and commitment to one another carry you through this time of suffering. Bret's pride in his son's and devotion to letting them know how much he loved them is vivid in my memory. His charming smile and sense of humor was contagious but his capacity to love those close to him encapsulates the Bret I will always remember.
