CLIFFORD CLEVELAND

Clifford J. Sarge Cleveland, Neenah, age 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Vallhaven Care Center. He was born July 10, 1919 in Neenah; son of the late Earl and Elsie (Dunaway) Cleveland. Sarge was a 22 year US Army Veteran, serving in WWII. He was stationed in the Middle East as Military Police. Sarge then served during the Korean Conflict as a Mess Sergeant. Following service he was employed with Bergstrom Paper Co. in security until his retirement in 1984. Sarge enjoyed music, old movies and meeting friends at restaurants. He was a member of the American Legion Post #33 of Neenah. Survivors include seven children: Sandy Mercer, AZ, Gary Cleveland and his special friend, Linda Harrison, WA, Jeff (Teri) Cleveland, West Allis, Steve (Margaret) Cleveland, Neenah, Craig, (Anita) Cleveland, Augusta, Brian Cleveland and his fianc, Linda Harris, Augusta, Bruce (Pam) Cleveland, Augusta; a special daughter , Kathy Finch, Neenah; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Muriel Cleveland. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald; his step-mother, Henrietta; two brothers: LaVerne and Richard; a sister, Joyce; and two ex-wives, Margaret and Joyce. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 PM until the hour of service. Interment with military rites will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton following the service. A memorial is being established for the Disabled American Veterans. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Vallhaven Care Center; thank you for treating him as one of your own. Grandpa, We will miss you very much.
