JANICE STEFFENS

Janice Lou Steffens, age 83 of Neenah, died peacefully and was welcomed into Gods loving arms on Thursday, July 4, 2013. She was born May 7, 1930 to the late Forrest and Frances (Fuss) Madsen. Janice grew up in Monico, WI and moved here in the Seventh grade, attending Spring Road School. She is a 1948 Neenah graduate and worked at both Equitable Reserve Association and Kimberly-Clark before her marriage to Howard Frank Steffens. Janice will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She willingly shared her faith with others and enjoyed working at First United Methodist Church in Neenah. She also had strong beliefs in racial equality and was proud to have participated in the civil rights marches for open housing in the 1960s. Animals were also a great joy in her life, especially her Bernese Mountain Dogs and her cat Snickers. Janice is survived by her children: Howard Frank (Sally), Jr.; Stuart Paul (Carol); and Lyn Marie Steffens; her grandchildren: Kimberly Ann (Michael) Johnson; Craig Wyatt (fiance Andrea Giorgi) Steffens; Nichole Marie (Michael) Rothaupt; Grant Spencer Seffens; and great-grandson, Beckett Michael Johnson. She is further survived by her brother Daryl (Marian) Madsen as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Kenneth (Kahala) Madsen; sister, Lee Reinhart; and her twin sister, Lois (Charles) Heckner. The funeral service for Janice will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janices name.
