You were a friend

Eddie was sincere and kind in a world that wasn't always kind to him. I saw a constant struggle with health and well being. Through all of this, he was the first person to ask about others in such a way that couldn't be mistaken for anything other that genuine care and interest. He had an amazing gift of enthusiasm that was contagious to those around him. We shared the love of music which we agreed can connect people of all ages, race, backgrounds etc. He loved blues and soul and would often bring in CD's to exchange. I made him a CD for his 60th Birthday and I will treasure my copy for ever. Eddie had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. As a man, he struggled with life but he knew the salvation and love that was set aside for him-he felt it in his heart and was never afraid to share his convictions. He modeled love and forgiveness. Anytime someone is loss unexpectedly there are so many words we wish we would have shared. Eddie-I wish I could have helped you more and that I would have taken more time. I was always in a hurry and didn't set you as a priority even though I knew you were struggling. We shared common faith-I should have been a stronger witness for you. I am so sorry. I know you have been restored through constant faith and prayer and in your fathers arms, I however, will miss you.

I knew Eddie way back in the late 60's when his family lived in Gillett. We used to go out to the Shawano County Park and dance until the band quit. He always treated me like a lady with respect. The last time I saw him was in the 70's and then we just went our own ways...Again this is a strong example that we should "seize the moment". His daughter has shared that him and I have lived very close to each other>>all of these years. I know he is in a far better place with all of his turmoil gone.... One day we'll meet again and do that same dance!!!

Eddie, you are and will be missed. It's hard to believe that just the other day you were walking through from the back on your way home, saying "see you tomorrow" to us or inviting us to have a drink at your favorite bar "just down the street." You were much too kind hearted to have had the hard times that you had. I know you are at peace now and in a better place.

Although I've only known Eddie for a short time, I feel as if he was a forever friend. He always had a kind word and pleasant personality to match. Eddie, you are in the Lord's house now--no more pain, suffering or worries. You will be missed.
