Obituary
Eileen Elsie (Luebke) Flenz, age 95 ½, passed away into the arms of her Savior, February 27, 2021. She was born July 23, 1925 in Neenah, Wisconsin, to Frank F.W. Luebke and Elsie Anna Pagel. She was baptized into the Triune faith in her parents' home September 27, 1925 by Pastor A. Froehlke of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neenah. Erna Pagel and William John Luebke were her sponsors. She was confirmed April 2, 1939 at Trinity by Pastor Edmond C. Reim. Her confirmation verse was: “Set your affection on things above, not on things of the Earth.” Colossians 3:2.
Eileen attended Vining grade school, Trinity Lutheran grade school, and Neenah High School, class of 1943. Eileen also was a longtime member of Martin Luther Church, Neenah, before returning to Trinity where she was secretary of their Ladies' Aide for many years.
Eileen was united in marriage to her best friend and soulmate, Frank E. Flenz, on January 19, 1944 at Trinity, Pastor G.A. Schaefer officiating. After sharing almost 66 years together, Frank preceded her in death December 30, 2009.
Eileen was a stay-at-home mom. She loved reading, writing, poems, gardening, canning home-grown foods, baking breads, pies, cakes, and sweet rolls. She was a good seamstress and loved to do fancy work embroidery, crocheted many beautiful doilies, and crafted many Christmas and Easter ornaments.
Eileen is survived by her children: Steven (Kathy) Flenz; Kathleen (Gary) Reader; Bryce Flenz; Lorice Woller (Rickie Peyer); by her grandchildren: Jennifer (Chad) Dequaine; Christopher (Kirsten) Reader; Tonya (Kent) Baumann; Aaron (Ashley) Flenz; and her great-grandchildren: Cora, Tyler, and Clara Dequaine; William and Evelyn Reader; Arabella, Elsie, Hannah, and Nathan Baumann; Aydan, Ayderik, Aydlianah, and Aydbreena Flenz. Eileen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Also preceding Eileen in death were her brother Lester, Frank's siblings and spouses, and great-grandson, Tristan Dequaine.
The Christian funeral for Eileen will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with Pastor Tony McKenzie officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Frank.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church or Neenah Lutheran School.
Eileen's family wishes to thank Dr. Baltz and his staff for his 45+ years of caring for her; the staff at Hometown Pharmacy; Donna Osthimer from church; the VNA in-home caregivers; and most recently, the Right At Home in-home caregivers, especially Adriana, as well as the staff at Rennes and ThedaCare at Home Hospice.
