ROBERT OWENS

Robert W. Owens, age 72, went to heaven May 12, 2013. His fight with melanoma came to a peaceful ending at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Bob spent almost 30 years of his life working at Miller Electric. He and his wife, Donna, owned The Chandelier, a popular Appleton tavern, for many years. Bob was a man of few words. (Hence the nickname Silent Bob ) His carefully selected words usually reflected a unique way of looking at things and often resulted in a laugh. His artistic talents were evident in award-winning art pieces and beautiful handmade Christmas cards. He loved wildflowers, lighthouses, photography, and happy hour with his friends at Dan and AJs and Mr. Gs. Bob was a humble man with confidence that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. His decades of strong faith in Christ has been a source of peace for Bob and his family. He will be greatly missed by his pride and joy his children, Kris (Ken) Anderson, Neenah; Elizabeth (Fritz) Merizon, Neenah; Robert Owens, (special friend Sara VanderGrinten), Neenah; Jenny (Brian) Lee, Orland Park, Ill; his special friend, Jo Rohm, Appleton; and her family, Sarah and Ron Saari, DePere; his childrens mother, Karen (Gary) Riemer; 12 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Owens, Eau Claire; and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Owens and Nina Meisner; his brother, Harlan Owens; his nephew, Brett Owens; and his wife, Donna Owens. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, 129 S. Mason St., Appleton, with The Rev. Paul Schuler officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 PM until hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. A special thanks to Bobs friend, neighbor and hospice nurse, Jill Smith, and to Pastor Paul Schuler for their love and kindness.
