MARTHA ELWOOD

Martha J. Elwood, of Neenah, age 97, died at Theda Clark Medical Center on Thursday, January 29, 2009. She was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on November 11, 1911; daughter of the late Adolph and Martha (Peterson) Hetebrugge. Martha was employed at the National Tea Company. She then went to work for Food Queen Food Stores for a number of years as a butcher in their meat department. Upon her retirement, she became known as Mrs. Santa Claus at the Neenah YMCA, Morton Drug and the Neenah Schools. Martha loved all of the children she met. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the VFW. Survivors include her three children: George (Carol) Elwood, Robert (Nancy) Elwood and Alice Tesch; nine grandchildren: Julie (Jeff) Laabs, Vickie (Dave) Davidson, Cathy (Joseph) Weckesser, Wendy (Dan) Haas, Tim (Jennifer) Elwood, Scott Tesch, Tom (Sherry) Tesch, Allen (Emma) Tesch, Jeannie (Doug) Parrill; many great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; as well as her wonderful friends, Donald and Margaret Mader. She was preceded in death by three sisters; a brother; a son-in-law, Eugene Tesch; and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Tesch. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009, 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 1025 Tullar Rd., Neenah, with the Rev. Mary Council-Austin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. The family would like to thank Park View Health Center for all of the loving and wonderful care for the last years. Also, thanks to Pastor Mary and the nurses and staff of 4th floor at Theda Clark for their wonderful care and compassion.
