JACQUELINE GROSS

JACQUELINE GROSS

May 20, 1932 - December 11, 2023

Obituary

Jacqueline Ann Gross passed into the arms of Jesus for her eternal life on December 11, 2023 at the rich age of 91.  She was born May 20, 1932 to Theodore Freiberg and Alice (Rushesky) Freiberg in Oshkosh Wisconsin.  She grew up in Oshkosh, the oldest of 7 children.  Jackie graduated valedictorian from Oshkosh High School.

She married Donald E. Gross on February 12, 1955.  Over the next 14 years, they had 9 children – 5 girls and 4 boys.

Jackie lived a very full life.  She worked at Kimberly Clark prior to her first daughter being born and bridged the gap, returning to KC 20 years later.  She ended her career in research having 21 patents for her innovation and creativity in childcare and adult care product development.

She traveled extensively throughout her adult life both in the United States and abroad including Italy, Germany, Scotland, and Ireland.  She was a great fan of Daniel O'Donnell, seeing him in concert many times.

She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Jackie had many skills and talents – one being as a professional seamstress.  She was a woman of great wit, humor and funny faces.  One of her famous lines that was extremely embarrassing to her children was “I can sew but I can't “mend straight”. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and other handicrafts.

Jackie was a favorite mom in the neighborhood in Neenah where the family was raised, always making the “Gross” home the fun place to be – welcoming all at any time.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Ted and Alice Freiberg, brothers Ted and Bruce, sister Margie, former husband Don Gross and son-in-law Jim Eagon.

She is survived by her 9 children – Julie (Mike) Hellweg, Terry (Anna) Gross, RJ (Randy) (Kara) Gross, Wendy Eagon, Diane (Kyle) Kenimer, Jeffrey (Mary) Gross, Sarah (Mark) Wrasse, Becky (Mike) Arndt, and Andy Gross; 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister Barbara (Carl) Salzer, brothers Emery (Pam) Freiberg and Peter (Fran) Freiberg, brother-in-law Duane Buelow, sisters-in-law Joanne Freiberg and Lucy (Jim) Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a wonderful mom and friend.  She has gifted all of us with much love, a sense of humor and laughter.  She made a difference in the lives of so many and her legacy will not be forgotten.

The family would like to thank Brittney and Candace and their team at Prairie Home Assisted Living along with Audra and the team from Promedica Hospice, for the great care and love they shared with Jackie.

Memorials can be made in Jackie's name to Salvation Army or to the Brigade Christmas Giving Program.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 16th at 11:00 am at Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W Doty Ave, Neenah, WI 54956. A visitation will be held at Westgor Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the hour of service.

Jaqueline will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI at a later date.

Terry, Anna and family my condolences. I knew you dad slightly more than your mom but while they were married he spoke highly of his wife and all of you. My heart goes out to you all.

What a cherished Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grand Mother you all have memories now of. I knew "Mrs Gross" many many years ago growing up on Bridgewood Drive in Neenah. The door literally was always open , and I considered her my second Mother. I do not think she ever slept, with 9 children, there was always something to do, someone needed to go somewhere, lots of trips to the National Grocery Store, Cecil Street liquor store for an exchange 8 empty Pepsi bottles for 8 filled ones, visits to Lake Winnebago, always stopping at A&W for the free baby cones, there was always room in the station wagon for one more child. She loved to sew and knit, making beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls, our Barbie collections were the best dressed, as she knit and sewed their outfits, a perpetual summer tent set up in the back yard for sleep overs, and a slippery slide to kill the grass. She was everyone's cheerleader. RIP Mrs. Gross, you raised 9 great kids, 10 if you include me.

Julie, Terry, Randy and all the other children of Jackie, my deepest sympathy to you all. I go back to remembering her wedding day in Oshkosh, as I was only 12 and the Gross family all stopping at my parents on there way home. However after leaving FdL for college in Madison my connection with all my cousins diminished somewhat but always got info from my Mom of their life events. My thoughts are with you all during this sad time. Cousin Dick

I was so fortunate to work with Jackie at K-C. Such an amazing lady! I loved her sense of humor and kind heart. She was a lady of so many talents. I remember she sewed camouflage incontinence underwear for me that I took to my brother-in-laws 50th birthday. They were a huge hit! I’m sorry I missed the funeral. Rest in peace Jackie. You will shine in Heaven.
