ELROY HANSMAN

Elroy T. "Hans" Hansman, age 83, of Appleton passed away on Monday morning, December 22, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. He was born on January 13, 1931 in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, son of the late Walter and Edna (Barts) Hansman. Hans was proud of the fact that he was a two time All-American at Kiel High School. After graduation, he went to Lakeland College, and then onto Marquette University where he earned his D.D.S. After college, Hans proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, where he was a medical officer. In 1957 he opened Dr. E.T. Hansman Dental Clinic in Menasha, and served the community until his retirement in 1990. Hans was also very proud of his missionary dental work, four years in Haiti and one year in Jamaica. Hans married Audrey J. Ninmer of June 18, 1952. Their marriage was blessed with a son, four daughters, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 62 wonderful years. Hans was very devoted to his family. He loved to take family vacations, and teaching them the crafts of hunting, fishing, story and joke telling. Hans loved sports: baseball, football, basketball, racquetball, you name it. He and his cousin developed at built the Boys Sports Facility in Menasha, you can still see kids playing there this day. He also volunteered his time as a Little League coach. He was a board member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha; and officer in the Dental Society; and a member of the Black Slough Hunting Club and Ducks Unlimited. His kind demeanor and keen sense of humor will be missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Audrey; his daughters: Debra (Bob Janke) Hansman, Bozeman, MT; Paula (Thomas) Gumpert, Kaukauna; Kathy (Joseph) Van Den Heuvel, Neenah; Karen (Martin) Schrampfer, Neenah; daughter-in-law, Pamela Hansman, Neenah; grandchildren: Carrie (Craig) Stier; Christopher (Sara) Hansman; April and Jon Gumpert; Violet and David Adams; Samuel and Jacob Van Den Heuvel; Bridgette (fiancé Samuel Maltby) Schrampfer; Mitchell and Alexander Schrampfer; 7 great grandchildren; brothers: Monroe (Kathryn) Hansman; Walter Jr. (Carol) Hansman; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Hansman; and brother, Willard (Mirtha) Hansman. The Memorial Service for Hans will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church (300 Broad Street, Menasha) with Rev. Steven Billings officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hans' name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
