VIRGINIA GUILFOYLE

Virginia “Ginny” Loretta (Schwall) (Mitchell) Guilfoyle, age 93 of Larsen, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. She was born on August 1, 1926 and raised by the late Louis and Myrtle (Ardell) Schwall in Shiocton, WI.  On June 1, 1946, Ginny married Phillip L. Mitchell. Together the two moved to Black Creek, Green Bay and Appleton.   In 1958, the couple settled in the Town of Menasha where they opened and operated Mitchell Electric. In 1967, the two became owners of the Barn Tavern. By 1979, they packed up all their belongings and moved to Orlando, FL where she spent her next 30 years.

Throughout her life she had various occupations; nanny, housewife, Zwicker's  Knitting Mills tipper, grocery store clerk, WI Power Company, meat market, coil winder, custodian, bar tender and candy maker.

After Phillip passed away in 1983, she went to work for Barbara's Candy Kitchen, making wonderful hand-made dipped chocolates. 20 years later, at the age of 70, she retired. During that time, she married Robert Guilfoyle. Together they enjoyed five years of travel until his death in 1993.

In 2009, Ginny packed her belongings once more and returned to Wisconsin to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Ginny enjoyed knitting, crocheting lap robes for the Veterans, taking road trips up north and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was always watching over them from the upstairs window. She loved reading her book and putting puzzles together and was a feisty, active person up until the time she was admitted to the hospital.

Ginny will be missed by her children: Marc (Pat) Mitchell; Gail (Robert) Haag; Kirk (Tracy) Mitchell; her grandchildren: Troy (Roxanne) Mitchell; Lisa (Brian) Schultz; Natalie (Jim) Van Handel; Matthew (Gina) Haag; Christopher (fiance' Shawndel Drews) Haag; and by her great-grandchildren: Hunter and Tanner Schultz; Ryan and Riley Van Handel; Caden and Brayden Haag; Chloe and Cash Haag. She is further survived by her sister, Phyllis Chady Trunk; and by her stepchildren and their families: Robert (Janice) Guilfoyle; Mike (Teresa) Guilfoyle; Pat (Brenda) Guilfoyle; Barbara (Bill) Fuller; nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her sister, Marion Bruehl; in-laws, Robert Chady, Werner Trunk, Darhl Fischer, Roy Fischer, Elroy Mitchell and Marie (Mitchell) Sprague; and two stepsons: Paul and Marc Guilfoyle.

A memorial service for Ginny will be held October 19, 2019 at 11:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Rd., Neenah, with Rev. Paul Meier officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Ginny will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park with her first husband, Phillip.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Ginny's name.
