Marilyn Gunz (Loehrke), age 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 18.
Marilyn taught everyone how precious life is, how our faith and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is most important, and the total control God has over our lives. It was her strong faith and love of Iife that gave her her fighting spirit and kept her going all these years. She always said, “The world is happier if you smile than if you complain.” We can rejoice knowing that Marilyn is singing with the angels and walking with the Lord. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she loved talking to and greeting fellow members, usually with a hug, on Sunday mornings.
Marilyn was born on January 31, 1955 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, daughter of Robert and Alice (Pagel) Loehrke, and was raised in Larsen, Wisconsin. She graduated from Winneconne High School in 1973. Marilyn married Robert Gunz on September 24, 1977. She worked at Theda Clark for 10 years and quit when their daughter, Marcia, was born. After 5 years as a stay at home mom, she returned to work for a transcription service. Two years later, their son, Tony, was born. In 1993 she became self-employed as a medical transcriptionist for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Associates, where she worked for 20 years. She also worked for Alta resources and Winnebago County for a short time.
Marilyn loved to travel. Her favorite place was Disney World, though there wasn't an island or state that she didn't like. She loved her trips with her favorite cousins and the many wineries they found along the way. She treasured the many memories made on each of her vacations.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Robert, children Marcia (Jeff) Meagher and Tony (Erika and Cody) Gunz; her parents Robert and Alice Loehrke and brother Myron Loehrke; sisters-in-law Leslie (Gary) Meyer, Mary Gunz, and Joan (Ed) Lowe; her special cousins Kathy (Gary) Carlson, Diane (Richard) Ellenbecker, Mary (Michael) Roche, very special friends Ruthann (Dan) Buser, Gary and Cheryl Kuehn, and Lynn and Randy Kramer. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfred and Edna Pagel.
The Christian Funeral for Marilyn will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (407 Oak Street, Neenah) with Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. It will continue AT THE CHURCH on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in the Concordia Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in West Bloomfield, Wisconsin. A memorial is being established for Trinity Lutheran Church and The Larsen/Winchester Lion's Club.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Theda Clark, St. Luke's, and Aurora for the care throughout the years; and also the staff in the ICU at Aurora for your care and compassion.
