LaVerne Blanche Helein, age 87 of Menasha, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022. She was born June 9, 1935 to the late Vern Lindgren and Blanche Lee Hanson. On June 14, 1951, she married Bernard “Barney” Helein at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2001 at a party held at the Fin & Feather in Winneconne.
LaVerne worked for many years as an elevator operator in the Zuelke building, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed shopping, crafts, and reading, and for years loved quilting with a group of friends at the Senior Center.
LaVerne will be missed by her children: Linda Bednarowski; Scott Helein; daughter-in-law, Kaycie Helein; by her grandchildren: Laura Bednarowski; Lisa Bednarowski; Ryan (MacKenzie) Bednarowski; Josh Helein; Brad (Jennifer) Johnson; Andrea (Clint) Woldt; Rachelle (Jake) Munes; and by great-grandchildren: Tyler, Maria, Haley, Kayla, Skyler, Blake, Faith, Kaiden, Ella, Eli, Brooklyn, Abbie, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Nevaeh, Max, Keaghun, Jayden, Kayla, Taylor, Allison, Carter and Clare. She is further survived by a great-great-grandson soon-to-be-born; by her brother, Jon (Judy) Lindgren; her sister, Arlene Harris; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; by her son, Gary Helein; by her son-in-law, Joseph Bednarowski; by her infant daughter, Laurie; by her sister, Amy Lindgren; by her step-father, Arthur Hanson; and by her step-mother, Ellen Lindgren; as well as by many of Barney's family members.
A private family service will be held for LaVerne at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. She will join Barney at St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah.
